Terms of Use

Last updated

The rules for using this website, the community, and the material we publish — written to be read, not to be skipped.

Agreeing to these terms

By using thedopecontent.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site. These terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy.

This site is operated by THE DOPE CONTENT, a federally incorporated non-profit, founded in 2022.

What this site is for

This site exists to explain our programs, publish our work, and let people support or take part in it. You are welcome to read, share, link to, and quote it.

What you agree not to do

  • Break the law, or use the site to help someone else break it.
  • Harass, threaten, impersonate, or attempt to identify or expose anyone appearing in our photographs or programming.
  • Try to gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting, or any connected system, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission.
  • Scrape or copy the site at a scale or rate that degrades it for other people.
  • Reproduce our photographs, videos, or written work commercially without permission.
  • Use our name, logo, or program names in a way that suggests we endorse you when we do not.

Our content and intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the text, photographs, video, audio, graphics, logos, and program names on this site belong to us or to the people we work with, and are protected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark law. Protecting the community’s stories is part of our mandate, not an afterthought.

You may quote or excerpt our written material for non-commercial purposes with credit and a link. Photographs and video of community members require our written permission, because the people in them agreed to appear in our work — not in yours.

If you believe something here infringes your rights, email us with enough detail to identify it and we will investigate promptly.

Your submissions

When you send us a message, apply to volunteer, or propose a partnership, you confirm that what you send is yours to send and is accurate. You keep ownership of it. You give us permission to use it internally to respond and to run our programs.

Do not send us confidential information or anything sensitive through the contact form. It is not the right channel for it — email us and we will arrange something appropriate.

The community space

Our Discord is moderated. It is a space for learning, feedback, mentorship, and collaboration, and it is kept safe on purpose. Harassment, hate, and bad-faith participation get you removed without notice or appeal.

Discord is a third-party service with its own terms and privacy policy. Joining it at https://discord.gg/UPzBqcRdJ3 creates a relationship between you and Discord that we do not control.

Donations

Donations are processed by Zeffy, a third-party platform, under their terms and privacy policy. Payment happens on their systems, not ours.

Gifts are made voluntarily and are generally not refundable. If you made a mistake — the wrong amount, a duplicate, an unintended recurring gift — email hello@thedopecontent.com promptly and we will do our best to put it right.

THE DOPE CONTENT is a non-profit corporation and is NOT a registered charity. We cannot issue charitable tax receipts, and donations are not tax deductible. Nothing on this site should be read as suggesting otherwise.

We describe how donations are used on our Get Involved page. That description is our stated intent, not a contractual restriction on any individual gift.

No professional advice

Our workshops and published material are educational. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, tax, medical, or investment advice, and nothing here should be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation.

Some of our programming has covered digital tools and emerging technology, including cryptocurrency and Web3 concepts. That material is educational only and is never a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything.

Availability, and what we do not promise

We work hard to keep this site accurate, accessible, and available, but we provide it as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every detail is current at the moment you read it. Program details, dates, and availability can change.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here removes any rights you have as a consumer under Ontario or Canadian law.

Accessibility

This site targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA and is tested against it automatically before every release. If something prevents you from using it, email us and describe what happened. We will treat it as a bug.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
